Dear Will
Government's ‘plan for motorists’ robs people of choice, health and freedom, party conference news, and new Cycle magazine is out
It’s party conference season and Cycling UK has been there. We’ve got events for you to join online, and in person, and we react to news on the government’s reported ‘plan for motorists’ which Cycling UK and other active travel organisations worry will rob individuals of the freedom to choose how we travel. We need your donations now to ensure everyone has a choice when it comes to travel.
It’s also National Inclusion Week and Cycling UK examines what it means to be inclusive and how we can all take action to ensure our groups make everyone feel welcome.
Also, in this week’s CycleClips, the latest Cycle magazine is out and we’ve got three top stories from the latest edition; how and when bikes should be designed for durability, a weekender ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh and we test endurance road bikes.
Happy cycling,

No 10 is robbing people of choice on how we travel
|
|
Cycling UK has spoken out against the government’s ‘plan for motorists’ reported in the Guardian yesterday ahead of the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, saying it “robs” people of choice, health and freedom.
Together with other leading cycling and walking organisations, Cycling UK, British Cycling and Living Streets say instead of giving people real choice in how they travel, the plan ignores possibilities for cheap, reliable and sustainable travel, leaving many with one default option: to drive.
You can help Cycling UK fight to stop us being robbed of our travel choices by donating today.

Cycling UK at party conferences
|
|
As part of Cycling UK's work to engage with politicians from across the political spectrum, we are delighted to be leading an exciting panel event at the Conservative Party Conference, alongside the Conservative Environment Network.
Only conference attendees will be able to join the event in person, but the panel will be live streamed so join us virtually on Tuesday 3 October @6:30pm so you can watch from home.
Along with Living Streets and Labour Cycles we’re also leading two events at the Labour Party Conference. - Sun 8 Oct @12:15pm: Join us online to discuss what a ‘Labour street’ looks like
- Sun 8 Oct @2:00pm: Join us in person as we go on a cycle and walk to celebrate how active travel can help us create a healthier, happier Britain.
